The A to Z of Life as I know it..A is for Adversity

Most babies-that means you and me-come into this world crying and struggling, a howling and a kicking. All blinding lights and deafening noises, the world is a terror to behold. In those first few magical seconds we are having our first encounter with adversity.

It's a shock to be out isn't it? Ejected into this bright new wondrous and terrifying world. However old you may be, whichever point you are at now - geographically, physiologically, psychologically -it's still a shock to be out isn't it?. In the A to Z of life A stands for Adversity.

I for one wish someone, my father, mother, midwife, doctor, the puffy faced teenager pushing the confectionery cart down the maternity ward (I was lucky enough to be born in a hospital) had held me tight and informed me in hushed and wise tones that this same sense of adversity would pervade my entire life. " So long as you draw breath breath you will face adversity kid"

The scene can be pictured clearly. Sitting bolt upright with this quizzical look on my face, like one of those clever kids from the Look Who's Talking francise. Stunned, I may have wanted to hop right back into the womb. "Mother get me out of here !, this baby wants to go home".

The next piece of advice may have curtailed my flight. ''Kid, adversity may be a constant but there are some tricks to coping with it and perhaps even learning to enjoy it.' That may have slowed down the retreat, piqued my interest a little.


Life is tough. No doubt about it, life is tough. We don't know where it comes from, when the life as we know it will end. The only certainty is that it will. Change is the only constant. How we cope with this change goes a long way in determining how our life goes. There will be some losses some gains. The losses and the gains are often the same thing. In my opinion just the fact that you are able to sit here and read this-even if it sends you to zzzzzz-is a major victory, a triumph in the very face of fortune.



Anyway, thank you for your time and consideration, commodities which are worth more than oil and gold in my opinion.
